Disk reading When inserting a new disk, it attempts to format, but then sends the message that the disk cannot be recorded or formatted. It does the same thing when attempting to play a previously recorded disk-says the information cannot be read. This is a new phenomonen. It also will have either stopped recording in the middle of a programmed session or stop replay when I attempt to view - don't know which.

I am trying to copy photos to a cd-rw. i insert

Try another disk.
One problem with CD R/W is that some programs insist on formatting them. If you have "In-CD" running, shut it down and try again.

DVD CD-R drive does not recognize a blank CD on toshiba sattelite

Try this before you enter disk.
  1. setup software or files to transfer when prompted to enter CDR, then place in drive.
  2. Or open my computer, select cd drive right click select, format disk. When prompt comes up for disk insert CDR.
Some systems have trouble with other manufactured formatted disk.

DVD will not load/format new disk

I have got exactly the same problem. Thought I had found some discs that worked as the first one formatted, since then all have come up with that crappy error protection message. Samsung really should sort this out.

Cant transfer footage from Canon DC201 onto computer (and eventually internet) Do I need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer?

You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.

One of two things has gone wrong
1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely
2. You have not finalised the disk.

You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.
