The LCD Screen on my D60 switches off when I insert an SD card, so I have no access to menus or playack or other info. When the card is removed the screen comes back. I ahven't dropped it and there's been no damage.
If anyone has had a similar problem, or any suggestions as to what the root cause is, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks

I cant detect my pics in my laptop from the sd cars. But I can see in my camera when I insert the same sd card. Is there any problem with sd card or any virus effected? How to upgrade the sd card. please help me out.
It could be one of two problems. The most likely is that the card reader you are using cannot read SDHC cards, of which all 4GB and larger cards are. Try using the camera's cable to download to your computer directly to the USB port. I bet you'll find that it works that way. The other problem could be (but not likely) that you are shooting on the RAW file format, instead of the jpeg file format. Most software cannot recognize RAW files, but jpeg is pretty universal.
Hello. Make sure the write-protect switch on the SD card is in the UP (nearer to the contacts) position. Try the card in an SDHC capable reader on your computer first. Note that the SD card can only be inserted one way - make sure you're not putting it in upside-down! If the computer recognizes the presence of inserted card (whether it can read it or not), format it at FAT32. When finished, remove properly (icon in system tray) and insert into your D40 slot, WITH THE CAMERA OFF!! Turn on the D40, and if it now recognizes the SD card, FORMAT it again, in the camera. Good luck.
