Question about FireLite (USBFLB80) Hard Drive
My smartdisk FireLite (model FwfL100n) portable works on my sony laptop but not on my dell desktop-it lights up, says device can be removed(names device) but doesn't show on my computer as being available (to write to or retrieve info). can anyone help? Thanks
You have not said what system your computers are wroking under I would think your Sony is XP/2000 But the Dell is Win 98 - An I right? IF this is the case it means the drive has been formatted to NTFS which be read only on XO/2000 machines. The thing to do here is to load all your filed onto the Sony Then refomat to 32 bit - this makes a universal device but your Dell if I am right will not see the lappies stuff Come back with more detail

not sure how to reformat hard drive (external) am working on a dell xps-windows xp version 2002
sony is xp too--but probably 2005
thaks so much for helping
Will work on Windows XP (32-bit) notebook (Dell Latitude D620/30) but not on my Windows XP 32-bit desktop-based notebook (Clevo D901C). I also run WIndows 64-bit Vista on my Clevo, and it will not work there either. The light turns on and the disk clicks, but that's it.
the portable hard disk is now unreadable by my computer? How can I fix this problem?
