Question about Maytag MSD2732GR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ice/water dispenser sticks

For several months now the ice/water dispenser on this refrigerator has been sticking such that you have to either manipulate the button that activates the device to release it or you have to open the refrigerator door to stop the water/ice from dispensing. Is there a fix or this a replacement problem?

I have the same problem. This solution seems like it should work ~ I was searching for info to disassemble the unit to clean / lubricate the switch and this is where I ended up. I'll give this a try tomorrow.

Something kinda frozen treat probably melted and worked it's way into you dispenser area... seen it before. That's where the "sticky" is coming from. UNPLUG THE FRIDGE! MAKE A NOTE OF HOW EVERYTHING COMES APART! Remove the drip tray (if any)and remove any screws you may find there. Now get a small flat blade screwdriver, and pry the fascia panel off the door from the BOTTOM FIRST (you may see notches under there for a screwdriver to fit into) and work your way around it gently until it comes off. Now remove the screws that are facing you to pull the control panel out. When it's out, it'll see be hooked up to the wiring harness. Look for a small brown micro-switch with either 2 or 3 terminals on it. The switch is brown, about an inch long and 3/8" thick... this is the culprit. From here you can do a couple of things. 1.) replace the sticky switch. 2.) Take the wires off of it and remove the switch completely. Then, using a moistened towel, clean it real well and let it dry completely. Then reinstall it and rebuild the dispenser area. Sounds tough, but it should take no more than 45 minutes to do.

Whirlpool side by side, water-ice through the door. Icemaker and ice dispenser works fine, water dispenser does not. What could be wrong?

I think the solenoid that operates the water on and off is bad. After awhile calcium deposit builds up around the plunger causing it to stick. That's what happened with my refrigerator. Hope This Helps.

I have a Whirlpool White Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator GS6SHAXLQ03, manufactured March 2003. The ice maker creates ice and fills the "holding bin" on the interior of the door. However,...

The ice will melt during the defrost cycle. Make sure your freezer is cold enough, at least -5, preferably -10. also, if your freezer is not full of food, put some milk jugs full of water in there to take up space. This will keep the temp colder when the compressor shuts off for the defrost cycle. if there is too much empty space, there is not enough mass to stabilize the temperature and keep it cold.

Ice sticks together

the ice cubes stick together because the water level in the tray is to high and the cubes can not be separated so turn the valve on the wall behind the unit closed some to lessen the amount of water in the tray

My side by side refrigerator has an in the door ice and water dispenser that will no longer drop cubes - just crushed ice. What's the deal?

Hello. Here is the fix for your problem. Remove all of the ice and use a blow dryer to dry all of the surfaces well. Then spray the surfaces with PAM no stick cooking spray. This will renew the food safe no stick surfaces in your icemaker and give you months of service. Regards, Joe

Why is my refrigerator leaking water inside

It sounds like the flap in the door for the ice despenser is missing or is sticking open. The room temperature will lower the temp in the ice bucket enough to partially melt that ice, OR cause a LOT of condensation that may freeze or re-freeze.
