The past few days we have been having power outages because of thunderstorms. when we have a power outage the fridge stops working immediatley after. a few days later the fridge will just start working again. i know its not the circuit breaker. should we have a repair man come in. the fridge is not just yet 2 years old.

Re: fridge stops working when power goes out.
Good possibility that the electrical contacts have failed (burned/welded) in either the defrost timer (part# 68233-3) or the Cold Control (part# 61002085. An intermittent failure is extremely difficult to track down. Both of the parts I listed total about $80. You can purchase them and install them for less $$ than having a professional do it for you. We would obviously charge more because we would absorb the cost of warranty, labor, drive time, etc...
If you choose to replace these components, UNPLUG THE FRIDGE BEFORE HAND!

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).
Check your breakers in the Main Panel for your electrical control of your house.
Make sure you are getting 220Volts at the receptical, and where the wire connects to the back of the dryer, sometimes the wire will burn loose at that connection

Whenever I have a really bad thunderstorm that ends up in a power outage my wii does the exact same thing...
I don't know what the cause is but what you should do is just unplug it for about 12 hours (about how long i leave it unplugged everytime), plug it back in and if it is the same problem as I have it should work fine (until another power outage...)
BUT if it still doesnt power up leave it unplugged for another 6 hours, after that if it still wont turn on id call nintendo and find out what the problem is...
I would chech the components on the compressor. Take the cover off the compressor power terminals and inspect the relay for damage. The power outage is not a concern but the power surge could definately be the cause. hope this helps.
can be many of things, try to unplug it for 20-30 mins see what it does after that let me know, could be a bad relay u can call me if you would like open till midnight est... whirlpoolpartssurplus.com mark
It sounds like it got fried by that power outage, did you have a surge protector on it? If you just bought it in December it should still be under warranty. I recommend you call Emerson and see what they can do about it.
