350 fourtrax shuts off - Accord Honda Motorcycles

    My 2000 honda fourtrax (rancher) shuts off after 30 minutes of use. Leave it for 10 - 15 minutes and it starts and runs for another 5 minutes.

Ignition control (cdi, etc...) may be shot. When they heat up, they can short out or lose contact and this causes the engine to shut down. After cooling off for a bit you are able to run the engine for a few minutes until it heats back up. Easy way to test it is check for spark right after it shuts off.

Yes, you can start a Honda Fourtrax 350 2003 without the display. All you need to do is turn the key to the "on" position and press the start button. The display is not necessary for the quad to start.

sounds like the petcock is clogged or broken. runs off fuel in the bowl till it runs out. then after a while it gets refilled slowly and repeats.

2004 honda 350 fourtrax exhaust seat loose in head. What years of honda 350 heads will fit a 2004
Do I take it the engine is already stripped to establish the fault. I've owned several Honda's and never seen this fault. If its in bits a good motorcycle engine shop could do it and recut the seat but only a search of parts books would tell you if Honda used a motorcycle head. Saying that, Honda do appear to use modified bike engines to power quads. New crank cases built onto a previous barrel and head.
Call a Honda specialist or a quad shop who may have already worked it out for themselves. Check out quad forums as well?

There is an on line forum for the Honda 350 fourtrax. They discuss this problem at great length and recommend everything from using the choke and primer, replacing the spark plug with a hotter one for cold weather, to adjusting the valves to factory specifications, and rebuilding the carburetor.

1986 honda 350 fourtrax, runs good but every now and then start, run and as soon as tou put it into gear it will quit just as if you shut off the key
I had the same problem. I bypass the neutral switch, the green light always stay on, and my atv never shut off again. Be carefull, that way your atv can start even if your transmission is engage in speed
