My Ipaq hw6515 reboots or turns itself off every so often. It tends to occur when i'm using my GPS or when accessing my excel application intermittently. This seems to happen even when the battery power is 75%. It is occuring at a more frequent interval. The problem gets fixed (temporarily) when I sync using the docking station.
I had same problem.
Culprint was in the back cover.
Above SIM holder is a hidden switch what will connect the backup battery when the main battery is removed.
Small hook (high up) in the cover will trigger the switch. When cover get loose the switch will change it's position.
I put small piece of shrinking tube in it what will extend it 0.5 mm. That did the trick. No more unscheduled reboots.

There is a solution - jam paper in the top right hole and force the dreaded microswitch fully closed. This lets the Ipaq think the rear panel is on and it can fire up.

This seems to be a common issue with the 6515 (there is a dedicated forum about it on the Cingular/ATT support forum website). there doesn't seem to be any particular solution. more a faulty design.
