My tv cuts off after 5 minutes - Vizio P50HDTV20A 50 in. Plasma HDTV

Hi, Your tv is start to spoiled. But it is quite normal if your tv is back to normal after about 5 minutes. If after 5 minutes the screen stranger background still persist, unplug your power chord. This will totally cut the power supply for your tv.

This sounds like the protection circuit operating. With projection TV's, the cooling fan is essential to prevent damage from overheating. The fan contains a pulse generator to indicate rotation. If the pulse stops, the protection circuit will turn off the set. 5 minutes may be how long the fan takes to seize when it warms up. Also possibly heat sensitve parts along the cooling path covered with dust causing heat sensors to operate.

The power supply board have problems,not giving the wright voltages to the tv anymore.That why,the tv shutting down 5 to 15 minutes.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

the power cable is broke, but not completely thats why come in and out ...

I just got done putting my panasonic 50 projection back together. There is a thermal cut off relay on top of your bulb box, can normally be seen after removing the back of the tv. With the tv unplugged make sure the area around this relay is clean of dust. If the simple fix dosn't work make sure your cooling fan is coming on with the tv.

You have poor connections on the convergence IC's , re solder and your TV should be back to normal.

The half picture is a verticale problem. This is difficult to repair. Send to a repair shop.

This sounds like a protection system cutting in. This happens if there is a major fault and continual use would lead to a fire risk.
