TH-42PA50A - power supply problem

The unit is 18 months old and has worked perectly until now. The system powers itself down leaving the power light blinking slowly. After a re-cycle of the power switch it (usually) comes back on. It can remain on for anything between 5 minutes to 20 mins. before repeating the power down. Is this possibly due to power fluctuation? It only seems to happen at nighttime. Are Panasonic power supplies super-sensitive?? All other systems on the same power circuit continue to work flawlessly.

Yeah, same thing happening to me now. Screen goes dead with no warning and the power light blinks 4 times (and sometimes blinks only 2 times). Requires me to unplug it from the wall for at least 5 minutes before I can turn it back on and then might only last 20 mins.

Hi I have a panasonic viera TH-42PA50A blinking red light and it just keeps blinking any ideas what it could be

it is not a good sign. If the tv screen is dark (no picture) and no sound but the standby red light is continuously blinking then it could mean the power supply board in tv is faulty.

Usually a few burnt out capacitors on the board but hard to replace yourself unless you are experienced in this sort of work. From the model it appears a reasonably recent unit and you may want to get it checked out by a repairer at least to get an estimate of the cost.
See this site to get some idea of the part costs.

Tv wont turn on, red led flashes 10 times

If this is NOT projection, then the power supply is burnt out. If it is projection, then either high voltage transformer, flyback, or power supply is at fault

My console is approximately 18 months old and will not power up, what can I do to start it?

HI, There is a fuse located inside the power supply unit. I would advise to check this fuse asap. The fuse may have burned out, due to a surge of some sort. If the fuse is ok, this will confirm that the power supply itself has failed. Have it replace asap.

Panasonic 42 Inch takes 15 seconds to come on

Okay, This is not i huge issue plasma do take some time 15 secounds would be kinda noraml there. I would say leave it alone until you find another mahor issue as 15 sec for a plasma on total cool down is not a issue as of yet.

(panasonic TH-42PZ77U plasma) the tv will power on but before the picture comes up it powers back off. Red power light is flashing.

in protective mode the tv does not turn on and light is blinking, typically we must proceed by elimination as some faulty sections are preventing the tv to switch on. unplug the output power connectors from the power supply until the latter stop clicking. if it is still clicking after every of the output rail have been disconnected, then the power supply itself is faulty.

hope this helps!

Won't Turn On....Immediately Switches To Standby

Did you get your tv fixed? It may be the Sub power supply unit. If the main supply went out it would not light the display at all. Yes it is time for th repair shop. Good Luck.
