to charge the GPX ML6488 MP3 Player, you have to find the AC Charger design for GPX then locate the power outlet for GPX then plug the exact or match connector from your charger then plug the AC Charger to the power outlet then wait the MP3 's battery become full.
You should be able to just plug in the usb cable and it will charge automatically, if your computer has the drivers installed for it. you may be able to test it with a Motorla wall charger to see if the battery will even take a charge.
Make sure the hold/lock wasn't accidentally engaged. If not:
You will have to go to this website and download the GPX Software Restore Utility: http://www.gpx.com/store/p/190-ML648B.aspx
You have to install the software for the mp3 player BEFORE connecting the mp3 player to the computer, or else Windows XP will override the native drivers. That particular Nextar is not compatible with Windows Vista, so you may have a problem if you have a newer computer.
