Re: Creative Zen Microphoto Frozen 8GB
Is the device found by your computer? if so open your 'my computer' folder (usually an icon on your desktop screen). if the device shows, right click on it. click format, quick format, start. then disconnect and power on your player. it should reboot itself. if it doesn't you may have other issues.
check the creative website for product support. most players have a 'reset' function that sometimes works to unlock them. I'm not real familiar with this player and am unable to tell you how to do a reset on it.
a simple test before reformatting would be to remove the battery from the player and then re-install it. sometimes this will also cause the player to reboot itself and solve the problem.

I'm assuming you're not using a hub but plugging directly into one of the USB ports on your laptop?
First, have you installed all current patches for your PC? I think this was a common error message that was hotfixed some time ago, so be sure your OS is up-to-date. If so, you could try to uninstall all USB ports in device manager, then restart. When your system is up, go to the first USB device and right-click, then turn off warning messages. This is just for the error message, you may have a problem with your Zen as well so try it on a different PC if possible but I'd do that when it's fully charged. You may need to do a hard reset (instructions in your manual) to get it to work but that may delete all of the Zen's contents, so that's a last resort.
As part of our ongoing efforts to supportyou, Creative is happy to introduce the MP3 Player Recovery Tool, aprogram that resolves the majority of player problems quickly. One click is all it takes to update yourplayer to the latest available firmware, and to give your player aclean bill of health.
BEFORE YOU START
Check that the MP3 Player Recovery Tool supports your player.
Ensure that you are using Windows XP® Service Pack 2 32-bit,Windows XP Professional x64 Edition or Windows Vista™ (32-bit or 64-bitversion).
Back up the contents of your player, if possible, as recoveringyour player may require it to be re-formatted, erasing all content.
Make sure your player battery is at least 50% charged.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
