HP laser jet 1018 printing problem

The 1018 is not supported by HP with the Mac OS Mountain Lion. I found this on an HP forum and it worked for someone else. You could try this:

Unfortunately, HP laserjet 1018 is not suported in Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. How evere you can use the builtin drivers that goes along with the operating system and select teh driver of another printer and check.
Connect the printer to the computer and then go to System Preferences and click on Print and Fax. In the Print Fax window, lick on the Plus sign and you will find the printer, please select the printer and then under print using click on the drop down and click on "Select print Software" and in the list, please select HP Laserjet 1015 pr HP Laserjet 1022 and check.
If you don't find these printers in the list, please download and install the latest print driver version 2.12 from the apple web site using the link below.

After downloading and install the update, please try the steps given above.

For tha particular error you are facing, here is the reason. These printers have a switch that triggers an interrupt when the toner door is closed. Usually there is an arm on the door that pushes the switch. It is quite sensitive and delicate. Then sometimes there is a tab on the printer's toner and if that breaks off then that error will be generated.

But in your case as you have not removed or inserted the toner, I think option 1 is applicable to you.

Now, if this printer is in warranty you should send it to HP for Free repair/replacement.

In run window type services.msc and the go to print spooler option just stop and restart the service.

Laser Jet 1018 when print fade color out
Hi my name is Robinson from Ethiopia,Addis abeba my printer is laser jet 1018 i need to ask I am buy another cartilage new one and then install in my pc affter install the cartilage toner i see this things
1.when i print fade color out but the cartilage toner is new what is this problem i am guse may be paper quality or weather selection i am ask this one when some other place change the printer print pure with out fade may be guse more u tell me plz if u can now

first of all remove the power cable and rmove the usb connection or  parallal connection from the pc. Then conneted the power and usb cable. you need to open the case to remove the printer cartise. and add the cartise. Start your pc. give print command.

While printing A/4 size a bold doted line appear on the rigt side of the paper from top to bottom

hmmm..have you tried cleaning and re calibrating the heads?

Have you installed the new drivers for your HP?

Personally, on all HP Printers, I use only HP products, mainly Jetdirect Print Servers, but you might try creating a TCP Port Printer (via your Printer Install Wizard) and use that. You only need to know the IPAddress of the DLink and the Drivers for the HP Printer.

Are you printing from MS Word? What software package are you using? Each printer is different and some require software settings.
