HI!!
I HAVE RECEIVED A HANDYCAM VIDEO Hi8 (CDD-TRV138) FOR CHRISTMAS IN 2005. ALL THIS TIME IT HAS WORKED JUST FINE UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I TRIED USING IT TO RECORD A SHOW AND ON THE LCD SCREEN, IT SHOWS IN YELLOW, AN EJECT SIGN AND SAYS TO RE-INSERT THE CASSETTE WITH LOUD AND CONSTANT BEEPING NOISES...
I HAVE TRIED TO TAKE THE BATTERY OFF AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES THEN PUTTING IT BACK ON AND TRYING IT AGAIN BUT IT STILL WONT WORK! MY TAPES PLAY FINE ON ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS CAM-CORDER, SO I KNOW IT IS MY CAM-CORDER THAT DOESN'T WORK...
IF ANYONE HAS ANY KIND OF KNOW ABOUTS AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM CAN BE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, I WILL BE ETERNALLY GREATFUL!!!
THANK YOU
The only thing I can find on this (and its silly sounding I know) is the following:
1) Moisture condesnation build up, leave the door open for 1 hour or more
2) The tapes you are using have write protection enabled

The switch is right where the protection tab is on the cassette when the tape is inserted. It is unlikely you can fix, and as it is a quality recorder, I would take it to a Sony Service Centre.
CCD-TRV138 is analog camcorder that can not be connected directly with computer by usb cable, this camcorder does not have any usb port to hook it to computer. Only digital camcorder/ camera can be connected with computer. Hope these info will help you. Thanks.
Hi, There is sound processor chip on main board that got bad and need to be replaced and it requires precise soldering work because it is SMD chip mounted on surface of board. Let me know if you need part number of sound processor chip of CCD-TRV138 Thanks.
You need to download your movies with a Firewire cable, you must make sure your PC or Laptop has this socket, the marking near this socket on your computer has a 3 bladed windmill picture. Your cable will set you back about £10 at most good camera shops.
To the best of my knowledge 8mm VTR's have not been available for some time now. On the other hand there are plenty of Hi8 cameras and players available after market. eBay is a great source. Keep in mind that Hi8 cameras and decks will also play standard 8mm video tapes. There are also many video tape transfer services that will transfer your 8mm tapes to DVD or other formats of your choice. Just Google "videotape transfer service"
