Question about Dell 1700n Laser Printer
We have been on vacation for a week. The printer was in the off position and so was the power strip it was plugged in to. When we turned the printer on, all the lights came on and began to blink (Ready, toner low, replace drum, load/remove paper, paper jam, error, and continue); also the printer warmed up like normal. I checked for a paper jam, nothing. I held the continue button down, nothing. The toner was running low before we left so I tried a new cartridge, nothing. I can't find anyting about this type of problem in the troubleshooting guide. I have tried resetting the printer three times by turning it off and then back on. This is a wireless printer, the wireless adapter connected to the printer seems to be acting normal with all lights on steady. What do I need to do?
Unfortunately I have this problem as well. Apparently this happens often, it is a system board failure. As person above mentioned - flash the eeprom on the printer's control panel, but I don't know how to do that and he didn't give instructions! Apparently a firmware can fix the problem, but you can not apply a firmware if all lights are blinking... Oh Dell, I hate you!

Thanks for the help on this. I ended up calling Dell...a few times. I got lucky and spoke with a person who could speak english very well. she logged on to my computer and tried to download a firmware fix. When she realized that the printer had to have a constant green light to upload the firmware she decided the only fix was to send me a new printer. The 'new' printer is a refurbished printer but it works!

Yes I have tried printing the config sheet by holding the continue button on the printer, the printer does not respond.
Mine is doing the same thing. All the lights are flashing and I have no idea what the solution is. Did you find a solution?
Same problem all lights blink unit is very noisy. I have reset several times removed the cartridge, paper tray and reset. Nothing changes
Ours started working again after I took out drum and manually rotated it. (the drum is the long green metal tube that is with your cartridge if you pull them out after opening the front of the printer. Blessings Jeff
push button on left side of Dell 1710 printer to open the front door and gently pull out the cartirdge and drum assembly - mannually turn the drum and reinsert - it should work after that - Jeff
