PS3 will not play DVD. No trouble playing PS3, PS1 games & CD?

PS3 was playing DVDs for 1 month but now will not play them. I am able to play PS3 & PS1 games and CDs, all work well. However when I put DVDs in, the icon come up, but it just goes straight to a blank screen and will not play them. i have tried a number of different ones and they all do the same. Looking for ideas of what can solve this problem?

If you can't play bluray movies then your bluray laser is broken. you will still be able to play games, because there are two different lasers.

Ok your laser is bad. You need to replace it. Your laser has a blu ray diode which lights up blue and reads ps3 games and blu ray games. Then it has a red diode which plays ps2 games dvds cds ps1 games. Your blu ray diode is burned up. You will have to replace the laser its pretty simple.

This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and alcohol. If this does not fix the problem, the laser may need to be replaced. Contact Sony and see if the unit is still under warranty.

60GB PS3 will play PS1 and PS3 games but not PS2.

this is a problem with some ps3's especialy the high GB ones like mine. they made it so most if not all of the ps2 games cannot be played to cut down on price and to leave room for all the memory. so you can still play ps1's but you cant play ps2's. sorry

thats becouse it a BLU-RAY it is diffrent i figured out the hrd way 2 :P

American DVDs unable to play for my PS3

At this time the region lock on ps3 only includes DVD and ps1-2 titles. Although some games will have the 80028F10 error. Most ps3 and blue ray will play without problems, my only suggestion being that if you are in the US, make sure you get a US ps3.

Yes it will work just fine and be able to play any and all ps3 games and blu ray disks. However, you will not be able to play canadian (ntsc) coded dvds and ps2 and ps1 games because the region coding of the spanish pal ps3 is not compatible with north american dvds.

It doesn't play games for ps2 just play the old games ps1

if u are trying to play old ps2 games the sumtimes have trouble reading them wot u could try is cleaning the games and the lazer inside the ps2 with a cleaning disk the should sort it out
