You don't indicate if the various speakers all sound normal and equal in volume with the test tones, which is where we should start.
Page 25. I would advise setting all controls to nominal (0 dB) and assessing the relative loudness without adjusting them. Then choose the one(s) in the middle, loudness-wise, and adjust the rest up or down to match it.

hello after a long search through the net the only solution to retreive the code is through LG themselves you will need to send them an email with your dvd model they will email you the code
another solution would be to purchase a all in one remote this i think would be best as the codes come in the manul
goodluck
I am looking for an LG LHY-518 subwoofer connector cable also... have you found where to find one yet? You can E-mail me at [email protected] thank you
Take a clue from that non-standard system cable between the electronics and the sub. It powers the sub's amplifiers and carries signals. Wanna take a chance on the pin-assignments being consistent across all product lines?
The manual for a LG LHY-518 Home Theater System can be found here:

I had the same problem. Also, the disc tray had issues opening if there was no disc in there. The problem was two fold... I think.
1) It was kinda dusty inside the machine and needed a good air can dusting. Get around the tray but be careful not to turn the can upside down and freeze components. I also ran a lens cleaner disc several times.
2) The tray top (only visible with the system open) was starting to warp... likely because the build up of dust was creating too much heat, also causes issues in reading discs... I created a make shift cushion that I taped to the top of the plastic tray that was depressed when the top of the machine was placed back on. This required several tests as if too much pressure was applied, the tray wouldn't open at all and I got read issues in the middle of playing a disc (possibly an alignment issue of the lens caused from the pressure). I finally got a good system where I occasionally have push the top with my finger to open the tray only if it was empty so my padding (made from gauze and gauze tape) was barely getting pressure. Again, this took about 30 minutes of trial and error to get it right. The heat and the displacement due to the warped cover could have caused read issues.
I don't know if either or both of these were the cause of the problem but I can safely say that I have no issues now and yes, prior to this, I slowly went from 100% reading discs to almost 0%.
Sorry for the winded response but this saved me from buying a new system and may save you. Good Luck!
Wow, almost a year later but here goes; I use combinations of buttons to disable/change settings on my LG. To disable the bell press and hold Express Frz then press and hold Filter until the display 'flashes' once, the bell should cease.
the sound does not play
Replaced the system connection cable but still no sound at all.Where are the fuses located?
