I need to get the pin configuration of Acer 7600G motherboard.(N1996)
Especially the front panel ON/OFF.
When i swich ON, CPU fan not working(Mother board does not statrs), but the SMPS fan starts running.
Actually i dont have the pin details of this motherboard.
So please help me.

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.
as long as the socket is exactly the same as the processor you are trying to upgrade to you should be good. As far as memory goes you can use a faster ddr2 chip but you have to find out what the maximum capacity is on each slot. Most newer computers can support 1gb+ per slot. Always make sure you install ram in pairs and in the proper slots.
if it's switching its self off after about 10 second then Your CPU Chip is not right some how it could be / damaged / the wrong socket type for the board as alot of CPU's are very simmler / The CPU's (4 pin) power supply is not connected or the CPU hasent gone in to the socket properly when this happens it will power up but will send no power to the monitor, or somtimes set off an alarm that sounds like a sciron going off.
n1996 is NOT the model number. ALL MSI boards are labeled n1996 - it's their C-Tick number. You need to find the actual model number which should be listed on a sticker near the main CPU socket. Search for that on msi's website.

Your heat sink is not properly working. this is because when cpu heat crosses threshold it shutdowns it self. it will not start again until it cools.
Try to remove the heat sink and then clean the base of heat sink which sits on cpu and apply the cpu thermal interface material. this is obtained in any computer accessories shop. shouldn't cost much. if available go for Cooler Master Cpu interface material.
With nothing attached to the mother board except 1 stick of RAM in the first slot the power supply and monitor attached, and then it still turns off ; I would make sure the heat sink was clean Reseat the Cpu and try it again. Now if the same results. I would attempt to substitute a different known good power supply. If that would not work, you are down to substituting a different CPU .
