I have the same type of TV, and I think it has a filed "power rail", as the LED does not burn at all, nor do the heaters of any of the CRT's. When I plug it in, I can hear the relays click in, and hitting the power button will cause the relays to click. Other than this, there is no sign of life from this TV. I really would like to find a repair manual or a schematic to aid in troubleshooting. The self-diag trick may be handy if the LED would come on. I'll try it and see what it does.

Nothing. I have a test button, two input buttons (an up and down), and two adjust buttons (up and down). No menu button, and no remote (it may come with one, but I got mine second-hand). Schematics would really help me here.

Fixed it! Turns out that an RF-stopper inductor (basically a wire wound a couple times through a ferrite bead) has become partially unsoldered, and the connection heated up hot enough to fricassee the board (turning it dark). Simply resoldering the connection brought this TV back to life.

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems, to activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source

Got a Mitsubishi vs-8070, everything works fine then the screen turns off after about 15 minutes sound still works fine. Help.

Does this unit have a projection bulb in the back end of the set? Just based on my experience with a friend's 65 inch rear projection TV, there might be an indicator light on the front panel that may blink if the rear projection bulb is failing. If there is a failing bulb it could account for the screen going black with everything else just fine, after the bulb gets heated up in 15 minutes.

Mitsubishi VS-50501 no picture sound works great

Odds are real good that the solder connections on the deflection yokes are bad. Go through the front access panel and with a small mirror look and the back side of the connector on each yoke. The top two pins of each will probably show 'ringed' solder connections.

Completely black screen but has sound.

you probabily need to change the input, find the input button, when you hit it you should get a box on the screen, with inputs, highlight diferent ones and hit select- untill you get pick back, thats what my sugestion would be

Mitsubishi VS-4541 too much red

The set is old and the picture tubes are probably weak. you can pop off the front grill, remove the protective panel to expose the picture tube sockets. On the sockets are controls to increase or decrease the intensity of the colors. The red is on the left ,green center and blue right. Go to a B&W picture or turn the color off, then adjust for the best grey screen.

Mitsubishi model vs-5043

I just had this same exact problem. I looked for an answer on here and could not find one. So I took the back off, vacuumed and cleaned everything out with the hose on my house vacuum, cleaned the bulbs and wiggled them around some. Voila !!!! lights on and all is working fine and better then ever. I hope this helps someone fix their problem. Just saved me tons of money and a morning of hassle.
