  • peter355 Feb 01, 2009

The picture quality is worsening daily. How do I identify which module may be at fault so that I can remove and get it tested ?

Do a hard reset, chances are this will take care of it.

HARD RESET: Unplug the power cord for 4 hours; then restart the tv.

If the reset does not cure the problem, I suspect there is a power supply problem. The culprit is likely to be one of the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply which has the purpose of filtering the ripple voltages from the bridge rectifier.

If the capacitor is the culprit, they are not expensive to replace but must be done by a tv tech - unless you are technical and know how to troubleshoot and solder

Remove the wires from the TV. The yellow usually works for the screen and picture. There could be dust or debris in hole or on the male part of the wire. Get an air blower, clean it out. NO WATER!! Put it back it in, with the TV on. Adjust til' no more lines.

Your TV has a convergence board problem which is very common with these types of TV's even with the other brands. The fix for this is by replacing two identical IC's with part# that starts with STK. For your TV

  • Anonymous Feb 02, 2009

the part# is STK392-110 but most technicians including me replace these
with STK392-150 for higher wattage rating and reliability. And before
replacing these IC's technicians check small components called
resistors and pico fuses. They also check for loose or cold solder
    connections.

Hi!

Check for the cables at the back of your tuner and your tv. See for the feature of Progressive scan on your tv menu, turn it on and it will lessen the effect or also can completly remove it.

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2009

If it doesn't help then your scaler/deinterlacer inside has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

    Thanks

OK, this sounds like the rgb calibration module may be going out. try calibrating your tv. this starts off slow but eventually, it gets worse. you may have to place an order for this part so you can replcae it. its quite easy to get to.

It soundslike a couple of the ICs have gone bad you might want to call in a repairman to have a look at the set

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2009

toahiba is always trying to update or modify so its harder to find the parts you need sometimes to fix the previous models.they havent had any recent recalls on tvs and the models they are coming out with now are even harder to work on than they were 5 years ago.this was why i suggested to you that you have a repairman come out to look at it.people on here arent able to keep up with any of the major updates that each model has come out with and the tv repaimen are required to keep up to date .

3 Horizontal lines distorting picture

When you say "distort the picture", are you referring to dark image? double picture

Kv-35xbr48 turns on fine nice picture then horizontal lines form distorting picture like interference also is the back hard to take off and put on needs a good vacum thanks for any suggestion

At first the picture is ok, and then distorted with horizontal lines i thinks. If the horzontal lines are parellel acros the screen, with an inch apart across the whole screen, your tv needs screen adjustments. Screen voltage may be high. look into the crt base also. Change it first. These also not resolve the problem, LOT may be faulty, with respect to screen focus pack. May need replacement. Try first setting screen voltage to a lower settings and observe.

Distorted picture when looking through view finder or lcd screen

the video playback is sampled off the video out and independently processed sorta like a TV signal to project on the lcd screen.
horizontal lines means you lost sync circuit and needs troubleshooting. Hopefully maybe a bad connection with a ribbon cable for the ICs and components are hard to change and jammed tight. I would order a video board.

Green screen with almost horizontal zigzag lines

Is good that you hit it and it reacts, very likely you have loose conections in different places but for the distorted picture you need to check the horizontal driver transformer and flyback after that is corrected you need to check the complete chassis for loose conections.Take your time.Good luck.
