Front Display My front display turned black the other day. At first it started with the screen being black when i pressed one of the side buttons. Once i opened the phone and closed it the screen would return to normal. It did this multiple times and the time right before it turned permanently black the screne had rainbow swirls all over it. If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated. The screen still lights up but it remains black. Thanks in Advance ~Amanda

This seems to be a common problem. The same thing happened to me about 8 months ago. I'm still using the same phone, and I even have to carry around a list of contacts just so I can call people. I brought the phone into the Verizon store and they claimed it was water damage. The little water damage sticker thing didn't show that it was water damage, but they said there was corrosion inside the phone. I still don't believe that it was water damage, considering the number of people that had the same exact problem. I get to upgrade soon though, and I've learned my lesson - I'm getting the full coverage insurance. Just so they don't try to say it was water damage again, if anything happens, I'm just going to say it was stolen.

How do i get my hdmi to work for my ps3 system

Note: How to reset video output settings
If you are attempting to change to an HDMI cable from a different video cable or if the video output settings do not match those required for the display in use, the screen may stay black. If the screen stays black for more than 30 seconds, you may need to reset the video output settings of the PS3.

To reset video output settings:

  1. Turn the PS3 system off by holding the Power button on the front of the console till you see the power light turn red.
  2. Then hold the power button on the front of the console for at least five seconds until you hear a second beep to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

...hi, i've got a 2" wide black vertical area on

That reads like an alignment problem on the monitor, rather than a computer setting.. If you have a flat-panel monitor, usually on the front, lower right or along the right side, you can press a Menu or Settings button, press + or - to the Horizontal setting, press the Select button, then press the + or - button to move the display to the right. Press the Select or Menu button again to set the new location.

The actual button designations could be different.. best if you look at the manual on the monitor.

If graphics card will let you oversize the display, it might also have a Pan option that would let you slide the display back to the right. In that case, look in the Notification area (lower right) of the screen for a graphics card icon that will let you Pan right.

No remote to turn off display

If there is a "Menu" button, on the front panel of the TV, press it, surf through its menu options [display options], and turn OFF the dispay. If there is no Menu button at its front pane. you cant turn the on screen display option without a remote control.

The OSD typically includes monitor calibration options, such as brightness, contrast, and color adjustments. Some OSDs may also include horizontal and vertical position controls as well as tilt and keystone adjustments.
If you can't make adjustments to the monitor settings using the OSD interface, the onscreen display may be locked. You may also see the phrase "OSD Locked" appear when you try to change the settings. Some monitors include an option within the menu called "OSD Lock", which you can turn on or off. If this option is available, simply turn OSD Lock off and you will be able to make adjustments to the settings.
If your monitor does not include the "OSD Lock" option, you may be able to unlock the OSD by pressing and holding the MENU button on the front or side of the monitor for several seconds. If you try this method, be patient! It may take up to 15 seconds for the OSD to unlock.
