SOURCE: Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

I have purchased two Rowenta irons. Both have the problem with water leakage. The entire iron looses all of it's water....both in the stand up position and the sitting down position. This happened after a couple of months for both items. I contacted Rowenta and they never responded. I will never purchase another item from them. Obviously, the irons must be defective. I'm going to contact consumer affairs.

I bought steam generator iron, iron work but doesn’t produce steam

Mix 1:1 water and white vinegar. Fill the water reservoir with mixture and hold the iron like you would normally. Keep pushing the steam button until steam comes out.

My Rowenta pro precision iron steam station gets hot but doesn't steam. How do I get the iron to produce steam?

There are two cause. One the boiler resistance doesn´t turn of because of snap disc or bimetal thermostat fault or because a coil in the working valve (security valve). But if you can heard a click of opening movement of valve when you push the button it is able to be a thermostat.

Why has my Perfectcare aqua stopped emitting steam

You should hear the boiler heat up the water. When you pull/push the trigger, a pump should be activated and steam should be released. If the pump is not working, it could be a defective capacitor according to this article:

A spare capacitor should cost you no more than a few dollars, just find somebody with electronics/soldering repair skills.

No steam is coming out i think it needs cleaning

Some irons like Rowenta have a self cleaning feature. If yours doesn't make a solution of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water and put it in your iron. Plug it in and allow it to heat that up. keep working your instant steam button for a while. Hopefully the vinegar will help remove the calcium build up and let it work.

Where can I order the steam trigger part that is broken. I need the part number. It is a Rowenta DG980. Thanks

Rowenta RS-DG0123 Knob Trigger, Blue
http://www.smallappliance.com/product.asp?pid=4477&cur=USD&cam=GA_B_rowenta_part

Carefully pry off blue handle cover on top with a popsicle stick.

A quick (maybe permanent) fix while waiting for your part: you can "weld" the plastic trigger back together. It doesn't have enough surface area for glue. Position the break back together. Secure parts so they don't move. Heat a medium-small flat blade screwdriver until it will just melt the plastic with a gentle touch. Touch the tip parallel to the break and melt a shallow groove about 1/4 of the way into the break. You should be centered on the break so you melt a bit of each piece. This will be the start of melting the two pieces together. Now, as you do each side of the break, use the flat of the blade to "trowel" the curled up plastic back into the groove you just made. Be careful not to distort the side that activates the switch. Ours is holding so well that I keep the new part in case this ever breaks again.
Less is more: use only enough heat to melt the plastic with a gentle touch. If it's red-hot you went WAY too far. You can always try more heat, but if you fry the part, you are done until your new part comes.

Not steaming

Hi, it sounds like the steam trigger has a broken pin on the end inside the handle. Unplug the unit from the wall and let it cool. I found out that you can remove the main rubber cover by gently prying it up from the front and pivoting it up to the cord end and lifting it off. You will see the trigger snaps in, but look at the finger end going under the microswitch that activates the "Burst of Steam"...it is probably broken. You can get another one from California Electric Service in Concord CA; or you can epoxy a small 3/4" by 1/8" x 1/16" piece of aluminum, bent at 45 degs into trigger hollow, approx 1/4" sticking out to actuate the micro-switch and after a day or two for the epoxy to harden it should work just fine.
