Question about Casio Exilim EX-Z57 Digital Camera
Camera when turned on fully charged does not open lens
SOURCE: Casio EX-S500 Lens Error
Remove the Back and front covers, then use a small flathead screwdriver to release the 2 hinges that hole the lens assy down; then unlatch the 2 ribbons cables. Now you can install the new lens assy. If you're not going to use the "old lens assy, can I have it, please? Thanks.

Step 1: Take the camera firmly in hand and bang the bottom part against a hard surface. A desk works really well!
Step 2. Take off the right side molding and blow compressed air (A LOT) in the bottom of the camera.
If it doesn't work repeat step 1 and 2 again.
I had this problem and now it all works out!

Try blow compressed air around the lens, this might help if something stuck in the lens causing it not to retract. you can also try other suggestions from the link below. it's not for the same camera but it might help.
