Question about Lexmark JetPrinter Z25 InkJet Color Printer
Two areas to check: (1) There's a encoder strip (sliver colored metal in the lexmark) the sits right behind the carriage assembly (where the cartridges are installed). It is slotted with "timing marks". This lets the machine know where the carriage assembly is at when parked in home position or starting to print a job. You can carefully clean this with water and a paper towel or cotton swab. I would recommend using some canned air to clean it after that since some of the paper fibers for the towel could be left behind. (2) The carriage rod that the carriage assembly (see above) rides on gets dirty and dry. Clean it with some water and paper towel then use a drop of light weight oil (3 in 1 or sewing machine oil) on it one either side of the carriage assembly. If these don't work, probably time for a new machine.
