Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone Expansion Handset Logo

Does the Dect 6.0 recognize when a phone number needs a 1 before the area code (1-800-.......)?   I entered some numbers with the required 1, and some without it.  All the calls went through.   In a few months, my phone number will require the full 10 numbers due to an area code overlay.  Will I have to store in my phonebook the required 1- before the area code?  Please respond, as this is very important.  Thank you.

If you save from caller ID to the phone book from an out of area code number, the manual doesn't tell you that you have press the * key while the number is displayed and it will insert a 1 before the area code. Do this before trying to call from caller ID or copying the number to the phone book. I had to delete the area code stored in the global set up to get the caller the "*" feature to work for my local calls other wise it would just put a 1 in before the 7 digit number and would not work when it is store.

I get busy signal when dialing from contact list in my Uniden Dect 6.0

New telephone company procedures in many areas now
require that all 10 digits be dialed even for local calls --
Area Code + Exchange + Number

Perhaps your Directory listings do not include the area code ?

Good luck!

I forgot my security code for my uniden dect 6.0 . I reset the default code when I got the machine six or seven years ago. how do i reset or retrieve my code ?

For the Uniden DECT 6.0 6035 system...

Setting a Security Code or Personal Identi?cation Number (PIN)

To play your messages from a remote location, you will need to enter a two-digit security code or Personal Identi?cation Number (PIN). The default security code is 80. To change the PIN:

1) On the handset, press [Menu/Select]. Select the ANSW. SETUP menu, and then the SECURITY CODE submenu.

2) Use the number keypad ([0] through [9]) to enter a two-digit security code (00-99).

3) Press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a con?rmation tone.

2- Enter your phone number and password, then click Login

3- Click the "My Subscriptions" tab

4- Then scroll down and click "Change Phone Number" button

5- Now click the "Change My Phone Number" button

6- Click "Add a new number for $10" then click Next

7- Select "I Want a Vanity Number"

8- Follow all the prompts to add your vanity number and enter the number you want when prompted

You might also contact them and give the some kind of "sob story" of why you need a free number change.

Phone adds #1 to local calls in caller ID

talk with your service provider
if the number 1 is placed before a local number then logically when calling that number, the number would be recognized as a local number and be charged as such
Form what you say , if the number was from a caller in a different state and the number was prefixed by say 6 then the system would recognize that as a long distance call
again talk with your service provider and if accurate contact your state governor or senator and make an issue of the law requiring the prefix number on caller id

E1 error on Dect 6 answering machine

I have reviewed the User Instructions for your model and there is no mention of error codes, such as E1. I did find a contact number for customer assistance, so I think you need to give them a call:
1-800-448-0329
Be sure to have your model number information handy when you call. Good luck!

Lost my manual for phone system 6.0 during move, where may I copy it. Phone is to hard for this old lady. I need a cheat sheet. Does every call out has to start with area code?

Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden DECT 6.0 system I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual.

Calls outside your area code need the area code. Some parts of the country use ten-digit phone numbers for local calls, in these cases the area code is needed. Other parts of the country use seven-digit phone numbers for local calls, in these cases the area code is not needed unless you're calling outside your area.

AREA CODE

Just purchased the GE 25922 today. Looks like you can skip (ignore) the option to enter an area code.

United States' Area Codes are three-digit numbers. If the phone 'requires' entering a number you can use any three digit number. The purpose of this option is to display a local telephone number with only the 7 digits.

Example:
603 - 123 - 4567
'603' is the area code
123-4567 is the 7-digit local number.

If the area code option is programmed to '603', then if that number called '123-4567' would display on the Caller ID display.
Which now reminds me: you would need to also subscribe to Caller ID with the Telephone Company for the numberic display to occur.
