Even with a universal remote I am unable to change the input source to watch DVDs or anything else. Dogs chewed up the primary remote. Any way to change input to use a DVD player?
I have the same problem. There is no INPUT SOURCE select button to be found on the set, front or back. Its also not in the menus along with the picture and channel programming controls.

On the top of the set, there should be a button on the left called SOURCE. You should be able to switch inputs with that. If that does not work, your set is broken, and you will need to return it to Walmart.

Unfortunately you will not be able to switch input.
I also have a Sharp, I have tried 5 different universal remotes. None will switch input. I guess that function is not provided properly.
Good luck!
most universal remotes will only do basic functions on your tv like changing volume or channels only some will do menu functions or change input source. if you have a universal remote with a input or source button you can try it some cable and satelite remotes have this function and are discribed in the user manoal. If all else fails you can order a original remote from the manufacture or your local tv repair shop
You're not trying to use the "Tuner" in the ILO are you? Bypass it and use the A/V cables from the "out" of the converter box. I think mine also has the coax type cable from the "to tv" to the ILO, then from the "to tv" on the ILO to the television. Either way should work. Mine works great, its a zenith and I have successfully recorded to discs in my ILO. Just change the Source back to the DVD source to watch a dvd or select the corresponding A/V connections that are hooked to your convertor box to watch/record television.
Does the disc still play in other dvd player? My ILO has always been picky to play rentals so I just have a cheap COBY player hooked up to front inputs of my ILO. I use it to watch the dvds, only use the Ilo to record. Saves wear and tear on my ILO but cannot find a universal remote to operate them both and my tv. If it still records okay thats what I would do, just watch the discs in a secondary unit. Sounds like time to start shopping for new recorder.
souns like the ir sensor board is gone, shopjimmie.com may have one ,they are probably around 15 bucks and real easy to change ,its one connector i believe ,i have not found any universal remotes that work with ilo yet either, good luck i hope i was of help
