Question about Creative Labs Zen Neeon MP3 Player
Same thing happened here wombaticus.Because my warranty period was over and i had all my music on it and no backup (I know im an idiot),I took matters into my own hands and opened it up and pulled out the hard drive pulled of the sticker(the silver one under the black rubber cushion thingy)poked a little screwdriver in one of the holes (carefully) on it,looking for the little arm inside that moves (i think it was stuck, dunno. Anyway a few resets later and my comp recognized it and i was able to retreive my music (backed up straight away :) ).I don't know if it will work properly now,it seems to but i don't care as all i wanted was my data back,so im happy.

What size Zen Neeon do you have? The 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB models are Flash based and dropping them should do much damage unless you really smashed it up. However, the 5GB and 6GB models are hard drive based and dropping them from any height can be extremely damaging (especially if the hard drive was reading/writing when you dropped it). Basically, it's dependent on that to know how to continue with your issue.

Unfortunately to perform a reset on a Neeon you must be able to connect it to a computer. Since you cannot do that, I think you might need to look into sending it to Creative for service.
If you are still under warranty for parts, they will most likely simply replace the entire device (as they did with my faulty Zen Vision: M). If you are under your labor warranty still you won't have to pay a dime for labor. However, if your labor warranty is expired it should only cost you $25 in misc. fees that they never explain (but it's still better than buying a new device). If both your parts and labor warranties are expired then you will simply have to buy a new device.

Oh ok yeh it's a 6GB.
Mmmm. I was hoping that wasn't the case. I'm pretty sure both warranties are expired. Anyway, thanks for your trouble, I really do appreciate it.
