If the data you managed to move are only photos and music, try the software, that helps to find and delete duplicates. Then you can select to delete the files that are on your C disk. I am using free software Duplicate File Finder. It's not very easy to understand it at first look, but it does the job very well.

Partitions are seen by the computer as separate drives. When you try to move files by dragging and dropping, the default action is to copy, not move. So--you will have to actually delete them from the C partition if you copy them to the C partition.
I have no idea why Acer does this. When I come on to a problem like this, I usually combine the partitions with a utility such as Partition Magic.
Don't try to make the D partition bootable You won't like the result.
Try, instead, to move your data files over there. Just remember, when you save docs, be sure they are being saved to D and not C.
Hope this helps.

Acer Aspire 5002WLMi Laptop won't recognize full 320 Gigabytes of new PATA hard drive. It's always been running a 80 Gigabyte 4200 RPM but that drive is old...a 2005 HD. New WD320 only reads 137...

The BIOS in the ACER determines the maximum size of the hard drive it can support.
Check the laptop's specification to see the max size you can install in this model laptop.
It appears that the max size your laptop can support is 140 Gb (unformatted). 137Gb formatted.

I suggest you install a hard drive up to 140 Gb capacity in your laptop and place the 320 Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and when you attach this hard drive to the USB port in your ACER laptop then you will be able to get the full 320 Gb capacity after you delete the partition and create a 320 Gb partition and format the hard drive.

Hi there , i have an acer travelmate 6592 laptop , the original 80 gig hard drive crashed , and i dont have the recovery disc , the hidden partition wont re install either , i have bought a new 320 gig...

You cannot get the full 320Gb capacity because the BIOS can only support a maximum of 127Gb.
You only hope is a BIOS firmware upgrade that can support 320Gb. Check out the Acer WEB site to see if a BIOS upgrade will solve your problem.
OTHERWISE
Install a 127Gb hard drive in your Acer and put the 320Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive because it is not affected by the BIOS limitation.

Hello, how can i get my Acer Ferrari 3200 to see the full 320 Gig Hard drive, at the moment it will only see 128 gigs.

Open your partition manager. Check if there are partitions other than the 128Gb detected. If there are others, you can create a new partition for those unpartitioned space

320 GIG Hard Drive now thinks it is an 80 GIG hard drive

Enter your BIOS setup and check what the BIOS sees for hard-drive. It may not be assessing the drive size correctly so you may have to force it by manually entering the data it needs to see the drive.

I can't get the full capacity of 320 gig drive

the hard drive you bought is not compatible with your motherboard. I am pretty sure that your board is only compatible with IDE ATA hard drive. you can still use it as external hard drive though.

Splitting a 80 gig hdd into 2 sections

Hello douglasc, You will have to repartition your hard drive. I would suggest the use of an application called partition magic. It will allow you to partition your hard drive even though the OS is present on the system. It does this by first defragmenting your hard drive and the putting the unused sectors together and the used sectors together this way it makes the division of the sections easier. Now once the hard drive is defragmented it allows you to section the drive into different logical hard drives. Follow the instructions from the documentation and you will have a successful repartitioning. Thank you, Shuttle83

160 gig external storage

Plug In your external drive! if you have any data back it up!(you said it was new so i assume there little to none) Go to start->run type diskmgmt.msc In the bottom pane look for your external drive! If there is a partition, right click and delete! Now the drive should appear full black on disk management! If not delets any other partitionin the drive. (Make sure you are deleting the external drive partition(s)) Now you can create drives by right clicking on the drive and click create partition! It should bring up a wizard which gives you the option to format, set partition sizes and everything!! If you don't wanna go through all that check out a third party software called Partition Magic: http://www.partitionmagic.com/home_homeoffice/products/overview.jsp?pcid=sp&pvid=pm80 hope this was helpful, regards, babb
