u dint plug in the scanner as u installed it right save the file to hard drive dont run from website thx nick

I don't know if this will answer you need but I called a number about my scanner and it seemed the person was very knowledgeable. The number is 310 687 5940 and I was refered to
support.microtek.com

Computer can't find scanner
Scanmaker's website states the 4850 is not supported on a Vista platform. That may be your issue.

It also appears they are getting out of the consumer business and aren't supporting them except through a knowledgebase.
