My Samsung DVD RW Drive icon Has changed in to DVD RAM Drive Icon in the My computer, today!!! The problem is that i cannot open any sort of CD's, DVD's Pls!! M in big trouble!! i removed da drivers in the device manager and re installed it again. even then it is da same prob........ pls help me as soon as possible!!! Its a new DVD RW not even 2 weeks!!!!!!!

This should expand and display each of the drives installed in your computer. Double-click the

DVD drive you wish to change the region for.

In the Properties window click the DVD Region tab.

Within this window you should be able to change your region code and also be able to see how many changes remaining you have on the drive.

Does the tray open/close when you press the button?
If so, it is getting power from your computer's power-supply.

When you open "My Computer", is there an icon for the CD/DVD drive? If not, then check that the "data" cable is securely connected to both the motherboard and to the device.

If you still have problems, you could have purchased a defective drive. Take it back to where you bought it, and exercise the WARRANTY to get a functioning replacement.

Put a DVD disk into the drive.
Open "My Computer".
Right-mouse click on the icon for the CD/DVD drive.
Click "Explore".
If a window opens, then your hardware can read the DVD media.
If not, then you need to replace the CD/DVD drive.

Then, you need software, such as the _free_ 'VLC' software,
downloadable from the Internet, to play DVD-videos on your computer.

i have connected LG DVD WRITER in computer but it is not showing icon of dvd writer in computer

Take a look at this registry key - you might have a different GUI id after Volume

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives\Volume{1365b506-f359-11dc-ac07-806d6172696f}

There should be a REG_DWORD called DRIVE TYPE
The values should be 1 for a CD-R and 2 for CD-RW

To verify - Go to My Computer and Right click the CD/DVD drive and then Properties.

You should now have a RECORDING tab and be able to burn CDs and DVDs

You need to re-boot for 3rd party software such as Roxia etc to now see the drive

in window under my computer is your DVD writer shown as DVD-RAM drive, if not then re-instal the drivers for your DVD.

If its installed as DVD-RAM then right click the DVD-RAM icon in the my computer and choose properties, under the recording tab select enable recording, try burning a cd using the windows xp based roxio by sending your files to the DVD-ROM.
If it burn a CD this way then all you neec to do is use a different CD burning application software.
