Question about Akai PDP4290 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television
The unit powers up, large AKAI in white letters with blue background appears for 1 to 2 seconds, then AV in left corner of screen lights up,
and no video appears in right corner, unit powers down. A few seconds later same sequence takes place until you unplug the tv.
Discovered that if I hold down the sequence button or the menu button the unit will stay on and continue to display AV no signal. If while holding down those buttons I hook a video input up the tv plays however the audio is low.
I just repaired one for the same trouble. The input to the main processor from the standy switch had shorted to groung. This was probably caused by static inserted when pushing the power button. The processor is not a replaceable part. The part number for the main board is E3761-058010-2. It costs between $140 and $150. I found it on-line at Shopjimmy.com.
Good Luck!

If these steps don't bring your unit back to life, you may need to contact a regional repair facility or the factory for service.
Let me know how this turns out, and if I can help you further.
