Question about Casio DV-01 Handheld Digital Voice Recorder

1 Answer

Software is not compatible with windows XP or Vista

I no longer can submit files from my voice recorder (DV-01E) to my computer because Casio?s software is not compatible with XP (Home edition), just with past editions. Do you have any idea where can I find a link or program that makes my Casio?s voice recorder DV-01E software compatible with XP Home edition? Thank you.

Thanks for the tip, but still couldn't solve the problem. The driver does not have a digital signature recognized by Windows XP.

I really would not worry about XP not recognizing the digital signature. I would go ahead & install it anyway. Windows XP throws up this message just because they have not tested the driver, it does not mean there is anything wrong with it.

I have panasonic voice recorder rr-us395 and no software, i want to download recordings to my computer

1) Download and install Windows XP mode in Windows 7 as the Voice editing software does not work in Windows 7
2) Download the propriety voice editing software for Panasonic
(magnet:?xt=urn:btih:565cb22e2ffcbc433358b1534d390de91af2a4da&dn=Panasonic+Voice+Editing+Premium+software&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A80&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.publicbt.com%3A80&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.istole.it%3A6969&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fopen.demonii.com%3A1337)

3) Install the voice editing 1.0 software onto the virtual machine and you are good to go.

I tested on the Panasonic RR-US395.

I am on MAC platform and would like to convert VM1 file to any audio format read by the MAC.

The only way to convert VM1 files to anything else is to use the Panasonic voice editing software. I have tried several other methods that claim to work but none of them have. The only way I was to do this was:
1.install a Windows XP operating system onto an old computer or get access to a Windows XP, Vista, or 2000.
2. I found an old Panasonic voice recorder off eBay that still had the software and purchased it (Panasonic RR-US470)
3. Installed the software
4. This is where it got tricky. The voice editing software doesn't recognize .vm1 files from other sources. The recorder and its software create its own file structure but if you put your own .vm1 files inside them, even with the same name, it still won't read it. Unless you do this.
A. Let's say you have 20 .vm1 files you want to convert you must first record 20 different voice recordings onto your voice recorder. These recordings can be like a second long.
B. Attach the voice recorder and move the new recordings to the folder using the software. The software will name the files MB001.vm1...MB002, etc. They will be hidden also.
C. Name your old files (the ones you want to convert to the same name as the 20 new recordings.)
D. Delete the new recordings from your computer and replace them with the files you want to convert. (the must have the same name).
E. Your software will now see the old files you want to convert. (On the software if you click outside the folder they are located and click back into it, you will now see the same files. It will still have the same duration as your new recordings but the file size will be bigger and you can listen to it and it will now be your old files.
F. Convert these to wave.

Once you get your .vm1 file converted smash your recorder and never use Panasonic ever again. There may be an easier way to do this, but I've tried many ways and nothing worked except this.

How do I put the recording into my mac on an mp3 file?

The supplied Software with the IC Recorder is not compatible with the Macintosh Computer. Hence, it is not possible to transfer the recordings to the Computer using the USB Cable. However, you can connect the Headphone OUT of the IC Recorder to the LINE IN of the Computer. Then, use any Recording Software to capture the files.

Vista compatible software can be downloaded here:
http://downloads.olympus-europa.com/consumer/VoiceRecorder/720/eng_2000_xp.zip

After installing the software you need to install following updates
http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/DWPUP4EN.zip
http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/DigitalWavePlayerUpdate214.zip

The software will work with the 32 bit edition of win Vista, not with the 64 bit edition.
