Question about HP DeskJet 5550 InkJet Printer

Printer only prints first couple lines

When I print from any source, the printer only prints about the first half inch of the document, then prints the bottom half inch of the document on the top of the next page. There is no middle. I have the printer going to my laptop through a USB port, I reloaded the software twice, I have printed the startup test page and it prints fine, but if I print any other test page such as the one in the Start-up menu, it has the same problem. It also takes a little while before it starts to print sometimes. Any suggestions?

When you select "print" go to set up and verify that it is set up the way you expect. I appears that you or someone had made a greeting card and never reset the profile. You need to save your new set up or it may revert back to what ever was saved.

Try removing the driver from the computer and install it again. Remove the driver by going to the printers folder, click on File, select Server Properties, go to the Drivers tab and then find your printer's driver on the "Installed printer drivers:" list. Highlight it and click Remove. Then try installing the software again.

I would go to the epson website and download the latest driver for the printer. More comprehensive printing sofware might require the PCL version of the driver. But for regular printing, just download the latest PS driver and see if that helps
