Hi, You set the screen so its all the way down and hold down the dvd eject then the reset button for a few seconds, then let off of the reset button, keep the eject button held down for another few seconds. Then the screen will say press reset. instead using the joystick, press up,up,down, down then push it in at the center. It will come up with options. the first one is touch screen test. using the joystick click on that one and do the calibration test. You will then have to trace the outline of the screen, while you are on the right side of it, trace it short to make up for the buttons on the right side. when you finish push the joystick in. it will say "settings ok" then go down to the 4th one, i think, and it will say something like test calibration settings and go to that one. It should say that the settings were saved. After that shut the key off and turn it back on and it should be good to go.

SOURCE: Pioneer AVIC-D1 Touchscreen Wont Work

Pioneer has a repair service center in California. Look up warrenty and service repair on their site. With a problem that detailed it realy cant be narrowed down to one thing. The good thing is you have enough wrong that you actualy benifit from their flat rate fee's for repair.

Me on the other end ended up paying $200 for them to replace a fuse. :( So yeah look up the repair centers number, give them a call and they will tell you what you need to do. The unit is repairable.

Some buttons don't work

Pioneer AVIC-D1 Touch Screen Recalibration

If your pioneer AVIC car navigation unit does not register your touches or the wrong button is “pressed”, you need to re-calibrate your screen’s digitizer.

1-Hold the Eject button down until the face of the unit drops all the way
2-Using a pen hold down the reset button (just above the joystick) and the navigation disc eject simultaneously.
3-Release the reset button.
4-Release the dvd eject button next. The display will read “press reset”
5-Push the joystick up two times.
6-Push the joystick down twice.
7-Press the joystick in.
8-The service menu will appear after a short pause. You can navigate the service menu using the joystick.
9-Chose the first menu option and press in on the joystick.
10-Trace the screen with a stylus.
11-"P.ADJ" is the back button
12-Chose the second menu item in order to calibrate the touch screen. Use a stylus again and tap the "+" sign on the screen. (You may have to touch slightly off center if the digitizer is damaged. In which case things will still be off but it will be much better.)

Several things wrong...

It looks like some one tried to wire the D1 to bypass the mobile lock out feature. You groung out the parking brake line in a specific pin. If it is not grounded correctly the nav locks out and it cant be accessed. Look up online the wiring for the AVIC D1 Bypass mod. Double check the wiring that they explain with what you have. Sorry I cant be more specific on the sites its been 4 years since I bypassed the disable function. It's worked great with out any issues so far as the navigation is concerned. The back light fuse going out, now thats another storry.

Avic-d1

I had the same problem.

I found that resetting the AVIC-D1 with the engine running functioned differently tjhat wirth the engine off. I first tried pressing the reset thit the ignition on and the engine off, but that didn't fix the problem.
I did a reset with the engine running and the parking brake set and the open button started working again.

Good luck.

Play back

Hello I have the D1 and it can not play DVD's in the DVD Rom slot. It is only for use with the DVD Navigation Discs. To watch DVD's on the AVIC-D1 you need to get the Pioneer DVD Player or DVD Changer and connect it through the IP Bus and AV Bus to control it from the head unit. The other way to watch DVD's on the D1 is to buy any automotive DVD Player, for example Boss, Lanzar, etc. or use a PS2, PS3, or any other Video Game System that plays DVD's and connect it through the RCA AV Video and Audio inputs. I believe that the AVIC-D3 has the ability to play DVD's from the unit. It can also can play DVIX DVD's. Hope this helps.
