If the supply cable it getting hot then it sounds like its not rated high enough for the current and could have burnt out.
What size and type of protection have you got on the circuit thats supplying the pump and do you know the cable size (CSA - Cross Section Area - 1mmSQ. 1.5mmSQ etc) and what is the length of the supply cable.
Do you have a multimeter or continuity meter to carry out some test?

Which part of the housing?
The back against the motor or against the strainer basket housing?

If leak is on the back of the housing - shaft seal. Or if the leak is on the front the replace O-Rings #10 or #23 in diagram.
