When I print documents i get a small 4mm line at the start and end of most sentences. I have tried cleaning all cleanable parts/rollers including any build up of ink on cartridge bottom but still the problem persists. i have solved this problem in the past but cant remember what i did and now have run out of options.......can anyone help.

After replacing ink cartridges, you generally have to perform an alignment routine.
On some printers, they have an automatic alignment function, others require the printing out of one or two sheets of paper and a possible adjustment via the service section of your printer software.
If this isn't done, you can have an output similar to that you describe.
I found a small plastic "clip" of the type that covers the print-head of a cartridge in the mechanism where the printhead/inkcartridge is mounted. I have no idea where it came from nor how long it had been in there but the printer works OK after I removed it.
