SONY LIB-81 Error on LCD screen - Drive Information 51
Been having a number of problems with our Sony LIB-81 and Arcserve 11.
Numerous errors on Arcserve Job Display Status:
E6084 Drive hardware error - Servo or Sensor error [ABSL:3050 CMD:1Bh]
E8005 Marking Slot[1] Off-line after media failure. Slot [1][SN:] in Library[3][SN:02585008]
Several NT SCSI Port Errors.
Have checked SCSI cables and IDs and nothing untoward there.
Just don't know if it's the drive that's faulty.
Same as others but using BackupExec. New SCSI card and cable. New Tapes.Same as others but using BackupExec. New SCSI card and cable. New Tapes.

Same issue. Loaded latest firmwares, new tapes, new cleaning tape. Ensured jobs were set up correctly. Backup will fail intermittently, and claim new tapes are bad. Drive information 51 comes up on the unit as well as Drive information 40

Re: SONY LIB-81 Error on LCD screen - Drive Information...
I think this sounds like the drive is having a issue loading and moving the tape in slot 1.
AIT units are known for having this kind of problem.
Try a cleaning tape and then a new tape fresh out the wrapper for a test backup.
if it fails with a known good tape then its time to send it out for repair
