Hello, I recently installed a FIC KA-31 Pentium III 1 ghz motherboard with 512 RAM that I purchased from a working computer. I installed it in a case with a 400 watt power supply, PNY video card, 3.5 floppy and CD ROM. I have IDE 80 cable. I also installed a new 300 gig unformatted hard drive. When I start the computer, it will do a memory check, show the equipment list, and then reboot. I can not get it to read the 3.5 floppy or CD ROM. I am able to go into BIOS and set the boot sequence. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, George
-Try setting your BIOS to the manufacturers ?safe? mode or reset to factory defaults. -I would test the processor and memory in another working PC if possible. I?ve had both cause this in the past. -If no luck still then remove the hard drive, CD, floppy, the extra memory (it might be a MB socket problem). Make this as basic a machine as possible to remove other variables. -Try testing the video card in another working PC. Let us know how it goes, I?ll ponder one this some more tonight.
