I have gone through the book several times and so have my friends and none of us are able to get the demo mode to stop. Today I was in a co-workers car and she has the same problem with her Kenwood KDC-MP3035. Is there some sort of little trick to get this to turn off, or is just a screwed up model???
Press the Source button until the unit enters Standby mode. Then press and hold the Menu button.
Scrolling through the menu functions, you should come to one that says "demo". Turn it off by pressing and holding the 4-way knob.
