Worked in last computer, but now is not- know about the holing down of the play button and pin, etc- question is, will I lose my data if I do that, since I can't get to the data to back it up!?!?!?
Does anyone have the software for the PC? Seems it came with some, but the Samsung site blows and it just has a warning the s/w isn't available yet.
Cheers,
griblit
I had the same problem, called samsung (1800samsung) and they gave me a transaction # and want me to send it in. the only problem is this is the second time, last time was in june/july, bought this thing in March... I would call them and send it in, what can it hurt... I tried everything I could, all kinds of things, nothing worked. Give them a call!

You did not give all the infomation on the MP3 player so all I can do is guide you to the correct page to download your needed download.
The following MP3 players are listed there:
I have own both a YP-T10 and YP-S5 samsung MP3 players and have experienced this myself, (1) First I checked what format my music was in and also where it is located on my MP3. (2) Then I tried resetting it, You can do this by pressing the rest button on the back, Its a small hole only big enough to fit a needle or a pin into it. It won't delete any files, Only reset the player. Then plug it back into your comp, if the files show in 'My Computer' and 'EmoDio/Samsung Media Studio' they should work fine in your MP3 player again:) Otherwise you might have to back it up and format the player but try the first 2 steps first.
i had the same problem, look on the back and at the buttom theres a restart button its really small so look carfully.
once u found it get some thing little and put it threw the hole and make sure u click it then try to turn it on, mine worked.
In case you have a problem to connect your Samsung YP-U2J Mp3 player, you should update Firmware to get it working. The new Firmware may be downloaded from Samsung.com.
Remove Mp3 player if you already connected to the USB port
Run the program (You should see something like: Please connect the device)
Hold down the Play button and connect the Mp3 Player to USB port
(Hold down the play button while you connect the device, you should see
a message (normally after 8 seconds) like: Initializing on YP-U2J Updater program screen)
After you hear the Windows chime "new device found" or the message
"Initializing" on YP-U2J Updater, you can now remove your hand from
play button.
Check the Format Data Area checkbox (By clicking the yes button, you will lose all of your data in your Mp3 player)
Click the "yes" button
Finally, click on the Start button (takes less than a minute). DO NOT REMOVE YOUR DEVICE
IMPORTANT: After updating the firmware, you MUST
disconnect the Mp3 player and turn it on. You will see a 20% message
for about 50 seconds and it will be restarted automatically.
Update: Please
keep in mind that if you sync your Mp3 player with a computer that has
a Windows Media Player 9 or 10, you should do these steps again
I had the same problem. Reset the device, by pushing the reset button down (a small hole next to the usb connector). Then hold down the play button for a few seconds. That should work. If that doesn't work, after reseting, hold down the play button and A-B Button for a few seconds.
