Ive got a Freecom Classic series DVD Rewriter, and when i goto "My computer" on my PC,it clearly reads DVD-RW drive(F:).
But when i insert a blank DVD,it reads CD drive(F:).
If i try and burn a 2GB film onto disk,it says there is not enough space.
Can anyone help!
My mate has also given me his exact one and his says the same on my PC.

I had a similar problem with a Sony External DVD Writer. I updated the firmware and all was right again. If you can identify the model of your drive here ----> http://www.freecom.com/firmware.asp?form1=true&form2=true&serie=12600&Manufactures=12600 ----- Then you can download the firmware, update and you should be set. Hope that helps!

click start control panel administrive tools scroll to cd/dvd drives connect this dvd rw then see if your drive there if not check the leads that attach from the dvd drive to the computer make sure they have secure connections and are seated properly or you might have to activate add new device wizard click start control panel you will see add a new device this may vary depending on your operating system
hope this helps
Probable reason for failure of a disk is power, if the power is adequate may be some of its components like inductor, diodes in series with the power line are opened, check for any burn marks on the pcb
is it a cd burner dvd burner , dvram burner?
i am assuming its an external so look on the bottom of it and you will see a model number post it here and ill post the link to the manual
Your built in CD Drive is a DVD player and regular CDR - CDRW burner, this means you cannot burn DVD's. To burn DVD's I would recommend you purchase an external DVD burner, here are some links to ones that are compatable to your computer.
It could be that the media that you are using is not compatible with the writer. Is the rewriter a DVD +-R drive or just a CD-RW drive? What software are you using to write to the media.
Hi , Make sure you still have the software stored on your machine or on cd . Please delete software and go to this site : http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/Toast/ET6000082&PARAMS=set-locale=en Follow instructions to reinstall software . If same issue remains , try to remember what changes you eventually made to your machine just before problem happened and delete the changes to see what happens . You can also try to restore your system to an earlier date , provided this is possible with Apple . Hope this helps . Thank you for visiting FixYa .
