Are you just trying to play them, Or is the disc player a recorder (Allso)?

will it play original CDs

or just the recordings that play up?

You can not use normal Data CDs. Use CD-R Digital Audio CDs or CD-R Audio recordable CDs. If you use correct Digital Audio Recordable CDs, it will show OPC. Once you press Recording, audio out is coming. Otherwise you can not listing to audio. Please read manual carefully. Above will solve your matter.

OPC means the unit had trouble Optical Processing Calibration, which means the disc surface may be damaged. Using brand name media and being careful to not touch the recording surface would help.

It's not completing the finalization so it won't play in a CD player yet.

OPC: Stands for Optical Processing Calibration.

When you see this message in the Information

Display for the Record DeckK, it means

that the laser transport inside the unit is making

the calibrations and adjustments needed so that

the recording process is optimized for the specific
disc in use.

When an unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW disc is

placed in the Record Deck%, the letters

OPCwill flash once the Table of Contents has

been read. This indicates that the unit is optimizing

its circuits for maximum compatibility with

the specific recordable disc in use. the number

and total running time of any tracks that have

already been recorded will appear in the

Information DisplayK, and the appropriate

indicator SPwill light to tell you if a CD-R or
CD-RW disc is in use.

To Finalize a disc, place it in the Record

Drawer%. Once the disc's Table of Contents

information has been read and the OPC process

has been completed, press the Finalize button

E@and note that the Finalize Indicator

Uwill begin to flash. Within three seconds,

press the Select button9*and note that

the Finalize IndicatorUwill stop flashing.

The Finalization process will take up to two

minutes, depending on the length of material

recorded on the disc. During the Finalization

process the Record Deck will not accept any
operating commands.

DR-6000 only accepts CD-R audio or CD-R music discs, not the standard CD-R discs. the difference is that the audio and music discs have the OPC formatted differently and they cost a bit more because they include the royalties fee. Standard CD-R discs won't work in this recorder. The correct discs have compact disc "digital audio" logo on them.

It implies a media Optical Power Calibration problem (google it). Did you recently start using a different type or brand of disc?

Probably time for a new laser! You'll find it will probably cost more then its worth to fix!

I HAVE A PHILIPS CDR 870 "OPC FAIL" PROBLEM. I HAVE RECORDED ONTO CD-RW, AND NOT YET FINALISED THE DISK AFTER RECORDING, IN ORDER THAT I CAN GO BACK LATER TO ADD FURTHER RECORDINGS. AFTER SWITCHING THE MACHINE BACK ON OPC THEN OPC FAIL FOLLOWS, EVEN WITH NEW DISKS CD-R AND CD-RW. MGHT THE MACHINE ITSELF REQUIE CLEANING OR IS THIS A FAULT? I AM USING MAXCELL DISKS, BOTH TYPES. I've just spoken to a friend who also has one of these older Philips recorders & he has the same problem.

As per my previous post, he fixed his problem by locating old stocks of blanks. New audio discs seem to have been manufactured & optimised for fast writing speeds (up to 32x speed) & this is causing the problem (you can't write at x1 or x2 speed to these new speedy discs).

Trying a few different brands of discs to try out is a whole lot cheaper than a repair. I suggest when you find a brand that works, you stock up on these discs as it seems they will become ever rarer.

how would I go about fixing the lazer problem with this issue of OPC Error when I push record. Sometimes when I use a lens cleaner, it will records some cds and then the error shows up again. Any help, Thanks
