SOURCE: my pc can't find my speaker

You probably haven't loaded the sound driver yet.
To find out goto control panel, then system, then devices
You might see a ? next to one or more devices
If so, the next step will depend on if you have the driver on cd, or you will have to download it.
Write back....

SOURCE: I have a HP m1160n, I installed windows 7 an II

Hi there
Sorry to hear you have a problem. Did you install windows 7 as an upgrade? If so, did you run the upgrade advisor before you upgraded? If you installed it as a new clean Operating System, did you check to see if your HP m1160n has drivers that will work with windows 7? I just went to the HP website to check for your drivers but it does not recognise the model you state M1160N. Go here http://welcome.hp.com/country/uk/en/support.html and put in all the numbers of all the stickers on the case or that look like HP. These maybe serial number, part number, model number, spares number until you get a match for M1160N. Then check to see if your drivers are available for Windows 7. If they are not you will need to install seperate new audio, network and TV tuner cards that er compatible with Windows 7.
All the best, Phil

My windows 7 new lapto isnt supporting the M-audio MA_CMIDI on my computer. it says my computer operating system is not supported for use with MA_CMIDI at this time i downloaded the driver off the site and...

: It seems that the Windows 7 doesn't have support for your audio/midi device.
2. Contact the manufacturer of the device and inform him of the new downloaded driver and that you have installed it and it didn't allow your pc to recognize the device and it is not working.
It seems that the new driver from the manufacturers site has a bug and they will know how to fix it. The manufacturers tech support should be contacted and informed of this so that you can get the device to work.
If they don't have updated drivers for your device it may be that they have discontinued the device and you will have to purchase a new compatible device from them to work with the Windows & operating system.

When you say you installed the "Audio driver from your site" do you mean from asus.com? They provide that driver for free.

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=P4S8X-X&SLanguage=en-us

If you download that, click on the install.exe and nothing happens, then open Device Manager, right-click on the audio icon that has no driver, select "update driver" then browse to the W2K_XP folder with the driver you downloaded. That should do it.
