Question about Maytag MSD2756G Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Defrost Problem My 5yo Maytag MSD2756DE Side by Side frig is having problems when auto defrosting. The "funnel" in the back lower portion of the freezer is filling with water and freezing, water will then start to pool/freeze at the bottom of the freezer and thereafter leak through the door seal onto the kitchen floor when the defrost runs. I've pulled everything from the freezer and defrosted manually multiple times hoping it was simply air flow but arrangement/air flow doesn't seem to matter. Any suggestions as to the cause and fix?

There is a drain in the middle of the defrost water collector and it is probably blocked - usually with ice. dry ot the tray and put very hot water in to melt the ice. you may have to do several times. do this until water flows away freely

Maytag side by side msd264rheb freezer works frig isn't cold. We found ice on bottom freezer side and did melt it with a hair dryer. Frig vent is letting in, now a little cool air, but not a lot.

If you found ice in the freezer then there is usually a lot more behind the back plate. If you let it defrost completely it should work good for a couple days until the ice builds up again. you more than likely have a deefrost issue. There are usually nthree components in a typical defrost circiut. The heater, defrost thermostat and a defrost timer or control. one or those is bad.

What a mess. The instruction manual (really lacking in detail) does not have part numbers or model description. Excess moisture dripping in refirgeration portion of unit (top freezer; bottom...

Yes it could, you will have to check your defrost water drain, if its plugged defrost water won't go to condensate pan under unit, instead will make its way down to refrigerator section

GE Profile temperature going up and down

One of four problems,

1: this box has two sensors in the freezer... one on the top of the evap and one on the bottom left side of freezer cabinet (little small round white things) in the back lower portion of the freezer. These have been know to go bad and cause this problem.

2: you have a defrost problem caused by a bad main board or bad defrost heater.

3: you have a evap fan going bad on you, quits when frig gets to right temps. in other words the fan doesn't like the extreme colds,

4: door gaskets are leaking air around doors.

I need to change my defrost timer as the fridge side is not working

For those who had the control board replaced or are experiencing the frig side warming while the freezer side continues freezing; The problem may (still) be a faulty control board. I fixed the issue by replacing a $1.00 capacitor on the board. I'm not a techy and it wasn't too difficult to solder. More info on what to do here; DIY Chatroom

In the mean time defrost the ice that is blocking airflow and causing the frig to warm. Check behind the lower panel inside the freezer.
I use a pump pressure garden sprayer with hot water to defrost the coils. Gets the job done in 20 minutes and I don't have to worry about defrosting items in the freezer.

Frig side not working on Maytag MZD2766GEW

freezer not defrosting. probably adaptive defrost board in fridge.
take panel off freezer (inside, back panel). if all frozen, can defrost with blow dryer. best to remove fridge control panel (inside, top of fidge). access adaptive defrost board, jump test to f1 (i think) next to test. this should initialize defrost mode. buy new board.

Side by side Maytag frig that is warm on top, not bottom

You can turn the thermostat off for now to let the ice thaw out, if a door was left open there might not be anything wrong, but if it freezes up again sounds like you might have a bad defrost heater or defrost limit. Hope this helps

Amana sx25sw - side by side - fridge not cooling

might be as simple as bad defrost timer( 10530703 $50)and/ or defrost thermostat(R0161088 $35), replace em both for under a hundred bucks. the timer is found behind the kickplate lower right hand side and the derfost thermo is wired in behind the rear panel atop the evaporator, and yea your right its preventing flow cause you "self-defrost" isnot functioning.Great frig though Id fix it

Magtag french door with water and ice despenser door with auto defrost keeps freezing up.

You have a defrost system problem related to the timing device, heaters, or defrost thermostat. Coils for the freezer are inside the back wall and defrosting the surface does not get ice out of coils.
it will not get any better until you have it serviced. This is not normally a project for a do-it your selfer.
