Lens does not come out anymore- crunching sound!

My lens does not extract fully and it makes a crunching sound. It seems that this is a problem that many have had. I tried pulling out the lens fully but it doesn't focus well. Is it repairable? At what cost? Anyone had this priced before? I have another digital camera a Canon mucholder and that is my reliable backup...oh well....Thanks for yor replies

Sounds like there might be some kind of lens damage. If you call Casio repair center they may be able to give you a ballpark figure on what it would cost to send it in and have it fixed. The way you described it sounds like what they call a "lens error". Give them a call at 800-706-2534 and then keep choosing option 1.

The lens gears are stripped. The EX-S500 has ridiculously soft gears, that strip out easily if dirt gets in there (which happens a lot), or there is something keeping the lens from retracting. "Pulling" on the lens is a bad idea. The lens doesn't extend by pulling, only by twisting the bigger part of the zoom lens. You will need the lens assembly replaced to fix this problem.

My camera lens doesnt open fully for pic and screen is blurry,I tried to Zoom and it shuts down. should I send to get serviced?

You could get it fixed. If you hear a crunching noise when the lens tries to open the gears are chewed up. If thats the case usually to expencive to repair. You could try to pull the lens out manually with your hand. Sometimes that will free up the lens. Hope this helps.

My samsung pl100 wont turn on. the lens is extended and its fully charged the green light comes on then beeps and shuts off. This camera is brand new ive only had it 1 week! how do i fix it?

OK this might sound harsh but i just did this. I pushed in, gently with some force, on the lens while pushing the power button. It made a gawd awful crunch sound, but it worked. Good luck.

Lense won't extend. Has error screen that says "lense error, restart camera"

sounds drastic but turn on cam and grab hold of lens to try to fully extend it manually. if you hear a crunching noise that means the gears are stripped. not worth repairing

Camera lens wont open or close after being dropped. it won't turn on and take pictures

Lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.
Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

Unscrewing lenses

Hello toccata, It sounds like your lens mount is cross-threaded. Have you gotten a lens off and looked closely at your camera lens threads. Are they crunched together. You may need to get your cameras lens mount replaced and check all your lenses and see if the threads aren't cross threaded. If a lens has bad threads, don't use it anymore.

Hp photosmart 945 lens is stuck

Looks like the large lens cannot get it's lense out with the electric drive. This is operated by a little motor with gears. The clicking sound is from gear-teeth. Your guide shaft (3 of them) may be blocked by sand or dust or broken guide-pins.
Once the large lens is fully out. The small internal lens will be moved in and out for zoom. I have recently fully dissassembled my broken HP945 which was fallen on its lens in extracted mode (under charge from docking station). If you want pictures how it looks inside, let me know. Lens does not fully extract

Your lens track is the problem, if you could open your camera check the lens gear if its teeth are complete. If so check if something stucks on it. Its much better to bring your camera to an authorized service center to re timing your lens track... ^_^
