Xerox Copycentre C20: Copier doesn't scan top 1-3 inches of page. Happens intermittently. When this happens, it moves everything else on page to the top of the copy, cutting out what should be

The document feed rollers may be dirty/worn which is causing the paper to come into the scan area late causing your document cut offs. use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened (not moist) with water and clean the document feed rollers. Confirm they are dry then, try scanning multiple pages and see if they pull through without stalling. If they do, it's time to replace those rollers.

Lexmark Pro901 When scanning from document feed the machine seems to scan only a part of the page whilst cutting out the information at the bottom of the page.

Make sure to set the correct paper size when scanning from the ADF. If you're scanning a legal size document, set the paper size to legal.

If it doesn't work, try to reset the printer back to its factory settings:

1 From the home screen, touch Setup (wrench icon), and then touch Use Factory Defaults.
2 Touch Yes.
3 When prompted to set the initial settings of your printer, make your selections using the touch screen.

When scanning to a PDF file for multiple pages from the glass, the file won't process and create. I have tried a RIP and clean re-installation of the software but it doesn't make a difference.

Make sure that the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software aids in creating PDF files and combining multiple-page documents into one file. The software is only available on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you don't have the install disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

Everytime i scan a document on my lexmark all in one it doesn't come up as a letter in order for me to edit it for my changes.

When you scan a document, basically all you're doing is taking a picture of it. You end up with an image file that you can view, but not a text file that you can edit. You need an optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert the scanned image into text.

The CD that comes with an all-in-one printer or standalone scanner almost always includes some OCR software. You didn't give a model number so I can't look it up on Lexmark's site to see what downloads are available, but you can check for yourself if you don't have the disc. OCR capability is also available if you have Microsoft Office installed, and you can find under "Microsoft Office Tools". Several free OCR applications are also available on the Web.

OCR programs aren't 100% accurate. The don't always get it right, so expect to have to do some correcting in the text file that's created. Some fonts, sizes and page layouts confuse the software, and some programs are better than others. But in any case, it's better than having to type the entire document in by hand.

How do I scan to a PC? I do the scan on the printer but it doesn't go to my PC. I'm using Windows XP operating system.

In order to scan to a PC with this printer type, you actually need to initiate the scan from your PC using the Canon software. One of the utilities, called the MP Navigator (which launches the Canon scanner driver called ScanGear), has options that will help you walk through a scan and a retrieval of the image so that you can save it on your computer.

Your user's guide should have a walkthrough on scanning basics. If you cannot locate your user's guide, there is also help available on Canon's site for both basic and advanced scanning. Go to the product page: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx870 -- then click on 'Service & Support' and enter the phrase 'How do I scan using simple mode' into the search box. The first result will walk you through the process.

Hope this is helpful!

I have an HP Deskjet F4480 When I scan a page, it shows the entire page in the setup, but then it only scans a portion of the page.

The "preview" shows a low-resolution image of the entire surface, but you have set the "selection" window to only do the high-resolution scan of a smaller rectangle. Resize that "selection" window.
