SOURCE: how do you wire four 12 inch kicker cvr dual voice

Hello brysonford00,

The wiring configuration depends on what final impedance you want the amp to see. If the subs are 4ohm DVC's, you can wire them to present a 2ohm impedance or an 8ohm impedance. The diagrams are here. If your subs are 2ohm DVC's, the wiring is the same. The impedances will be 1ohm and 4ohms.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: logic soundlab cpx1400 need to wire to a kicker cvr 15

Hello discrete01,

The Kicker model number 07CVR122 has dual 2 ohm voice coils, and can be wired for either 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Model number 07CVR124 has dual 4 ohm voice coils and can be wired for either 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

Kicker's wiring page is here: http://www.kicker.com/dvc_wiring

If you have the version with 2 ohm voice coils, you want to use the 2nd diagram for a final load of 4 ohms to the amp. The 1 ohm load is too low for the amp and will cause it to overheat and possibly fail. If you have the 4 ohm version, use the wiring shown in the 3rd diagram which is a perfect match for the amp.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: can i hook up my sub if it's wired to a 2 ohm and my amp is 4 ohm

Hi martineztag
You should never connect a load of an impedance less than the min the amp is able to drive. This can have disastrous consequences that may easily result in failure of the amps output stages. You need to use a different configuration that does not overload the amp in this manner for safe operation.

I have 2 18" kicker

First you need the OHM rating of the subs. Most of the time its on the box or the magnet on the back of the subs (normaly 2ohm 4ohm or 8ohm) And that of the amp. Most amps are 4 ohm output if its a 2channel and 2ohm output if its a mono. You NEED to know these cuz wiring it wrong can blow channels in your amp or cause it to cut "in and out"

ONE OHM STABLE 2500W MAX POWER AMP DIAGRAM ON 2

For a 1ohm load it's positive to positive and negative to negative run 1 wire from one speaker to the other. Positive to positive neg to neg. Then 1 wire from the speakers to the amp. The amp will have + - + - on it's inputs for left and right speakers (if stereo) Use the outside positive and outside negative. If there are any switches on the amp that say "mono" "stereo" switch to "mono". Hope this helps

Sub Wiring

Hello jtkpay,

Rockford-Fosgate claims their latest V-power 1500bd is stable to 1 ohm, and I would think that your Oldschool would also be. The 2 wiring options for 3 subs with 2 ohm dvc would give you a 1.34 ohm load and a 3 ohm load. The 1.34 ohm option would mean more watts to the subs, but the amp will run hotter. The diagrams look like this:

67e2576.gif

c9227fe.gif
Using just 2 of the Kickers, you can wire 3 different ways, with final impedances of 0.5 ohms, 2 ohms, or 8 ohms. You do not want the 0.5 ohm load. It's bad for the amp. You don't want the 8 ohm load. It doesn't allow the amp to produce as much power. So that leaves only the 2 ohm, with coils in series and subs in parallel. It looks like this:

Hope this helps. If it does, please rate as "FixYa".

15 cvr 4ohm trying to drop to 1 ohm

Are these Dual Voicecoil Subwoofers? Are there 4 terminals on each sub for wires?

If they are Dual 4 ohm voicecoil subwoofers
- connect both + on subwoofer 1
- connect both - on subwoofer 2
- connect both + on subwoofer 2
- connect both - on subwoofer 1

This will give you a 2 ohm STEREO load.
To get a 1 ohm MONO load...
now connect only one of the + on EACH sub to the + on the amplifier.
and the - on EACH sub to the - on the amplifier.
You now have a 1 ohm mono load.

If your speakers are 4ohm single voicecoils (one pair of terminals) the lowest impedence possible is 2 ohms.

This is wired in the same fashion. Both + on the subwoofers to the + on the amp, and both - on the subwoofers to the - on the amp.

How to wire 2 dvc subs to a orion 2150sx ? dont know the wire colors or how to hook um to my amp.

what impedence are the voicecoils?
Dual 4 - Dual 2 - Dual 1 ??

Orion SX / GS / HCCA amp Wiring guide:

Orange = Right Positive
Black/ Orange = Right Negative
Yellow = Left Positive
Black/ Yellow = Left Negative
Blue = 1+1

Bridging of SX or HCCA Amps:
1. Use the Orange wire for Positive.
2 Use the Black/ Yellow wire for Negative
3. Push "in" the Mono Button
That amplifier is only 4ohm mono stable - so assuming the subs are dual 4 ohm voicecoils...

First wire both in Parallel Independently So each subwoofer is now a 2 ohm load. (combine + and + - and- on both subwoofers)

Now Take a positive on one voicecoil of sub #1 and attach to amplifier+(orange)

Take a - on that same subwoofer and attach it to a + on the OTHER subwoofer.

Finally, take a - from the second woofer to the amplifier -(black/yellow)

Now you have a 4 ohm load on your bridged channels.

Hook the speakers in series to decrease your chances of blowing the amp and/or speakers themselves. And at high volumes make sure that the bass control is set for flat response.
