My Dell XPS 435 will not start. The power supply lights up green and when I hit the power button on the front, it will flash amber then go back out. The fans start for a second when it flashes but then stops. Do I have a Power Supply problem or other problem with the motherboard.

Without a diagnostic meter to check, it is cheaper to replace the power supply. You could take the power supply into a place that sells computer parts and see if they can test it. They fail, especially OEM and they have a lot of complexity to them .

SOURCE: pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?

SOURCE: Dell XPS400 No Start!!

If you fan isn't turning like it should, it is definitely a power supply issue. Go out and purchase a power supply with 250-300 watts...thats a good standard wattage!!

I Have an XPS M1530 which won't switch on.

replace the motherboard. You can find the part cheaper than dell here at

Don't starts yellow light flasing

If the power button on the tower is flashing Amber, the fault is the power supply. Replace the power supply and they system should work.
If the power supply doesn't resolve then the 2nd most likely failure is the Front IO panel (Circuit card behind the power button)

No power to my computer.

hi
stuart

just read this carefully.................

Unplug the power cord and the display cable from the monitor. Now press the power button for 60 sec exact. Plug the cables and your system is working................ This is just a power drain.
