When I insert paper past the sensor inside the paier slot, the yellow reverse light flickers on once, I hear a click like a safety relay and then nothing. The shredder does not run. Any suggestions?

Trouble shooting a garage door can be confusing. If you have a hand remote go into the garage and cycle the unit. If you here the motor run than it is likely that the gears have stripped or the chain if so equipped has come off the track.
If you only hear a click or a series of clicks when operated with the remote then it is more likely that one of the safety features are active. The most likely is an obstacle in the path of the door. The transmitter and receiver of the led light and sensor safety feature are located at the bottom at either side of the door on the inside of the garage , . Look at the bottom of the door and see if something is blocking the in-farad light between the door,
Many of the receivers have an indicator light and as you wave your hand in-front of the sensor you can observe the sensor indicator light flicker. If the sensor has a light and it doesn't flicker the alignment may be out prohibiting the light sensor from receiving the signal. This would result in the door not operating. Initially try to clean the clear covers to see if that is the problem. You may need to realign.
You may have paper stuck in the blades and its jamming.try forward and reverse to free it up or you may have the head unit on the can faced the wrong way. Pull it out and turn head around and than try. I know on some shredders if the head unit does not fit on the right way it wount push down the safety switch and it wount run.
You have a problem with the daytime running lights system. It could be the sensor, relay or body control module. The sensor is on the top of the dash, there is a panel up there that pops of to access it. (be careful because they do break easily). The relay is in the under hood fuse panel. The BCM is under the dash. It could be one of these or just a bad connection at the BCM,relay, or sensor. These are the reason it flashes. When you turn the lights on manually, it bypasses all of this. Fixing this, you need a volt meter and wiring diagrams.
Unplug the shredder... Take the top off and turn it upside down. Use a screwdriver to take the lower cowling off and look at the motor. If the mounting area where the motor sits looks melted at all, the machine is toast. If the motor mounting area looks good, look at the slot where the paper is inserted... there should be a sensor (that "sees" the paper when you insert it) at the paper slot. Check to see that the sensor isn't damaged.
I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

I had similar problem. I took unit apart and checked the motor by hotwiring it after checking voltage coming off the circuit board connections that the motor is connected to. Motor did not run until I tapped it a couple times with a hammer. Seems ok now.
I have the Infoguard SX-100M Axeus, sold by Staples. Only the reverse was working, UNPLUG and open back cover, the paper mechanical switch was working fine, the gears and fuse was ok, I think something on the circuit board was fried. I switched the BLACK and WHITE wires with each other going to the shredder motor, thus when I switched it to reverse, it would go foward and shred. Its working now, only in reverse.
