WAVY LINES AT STARTUP

RECENTLY, AFTER TURNING ON TELEVISION WE HAVE BEEN NOTICING WAVY/DISTORTED VERTICAL LINES ON THE SCREEN THAT AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO THEY GO AWAY AND VIEWING IS FINE. I KNOW THINGS WILL GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND AM ASKING FOR SUGGESTIONS PRIOR TO THE UPCOMING FOOTBALL SEASON. I PURCHASED THE SET IN 2001 AND HAVE ENJOYED IT UP UNTIL THIS POINT.

This is a common sympton with those Toshiba projection sets. There is a board inside your set encased in metal shielding called the Hyper Board. There are many small surface-mount electrolytic capacitors on this board and some of them need to be replaced. Replacing surface-mount capacitors on a board that small is no easy task and should be done by an experienced tech.

I have a Bauhn ATV-46FLEM LED LCD television that has developed vertical lines on screen. How can I remove them?

Hi,

Please double check that the vertical lines are present across all channels. If so, you might attempt a factory reset of the tv to attempt to remove the vertical lines. If this does not work, please shutdown your tv for 10 minutes (including unplugging the power cord) and then turn the tv back on and check for the lines.

Thank you.

Wavy distortion of the pictures

Hello!

That can be repaired, the vertical and the horizontal that regulate the voltage towards the projection maybe lessen or fulty. you can let the service man/service center repair this. these not much cost you, that is very cheap part and a minimum labor cost.

Where can I find a guide for my enzer TV ?

There are many types of distortion. Each with its own cause. Please describe the type of distortion. Are there vertical lines? Are the images wavy? Are they off-color? Are they blurry? A better description will yeild a better response.

My samsung hcn473w has vertical wavy line that look like interference. What may be causing this? I recently replaced convergence ic's.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Shadows on screen

Try moving a medium powered magnet (not one for picking up heavy objects and not a refrigerator holding one) over the distorted area. If that doesn't work, try a more powerful one. This worked for my Toshiba LCD. Good luck!

Sony Bravia KLV-40U100M-screen is distorted, overlay or various vertical lines

The resolution on this was to check the surge protector the television was plugged into. Once we unplugged and plugged into another surge protector, the screen went back to normal and the appearance was great. We believe this was due to one of the resistors within the surge protector may have become faulty.
