TAPE LIBRARY PROBLEM

I have an ADIC SCALAR 24 Tape Library. It has an SNC 4000 module that connects it to the fibre fabric. The LEDS on the SNC indicate as follows: FC:BLINKING PWR: CONSTANTLY ON S1:BLINKING RDY: OFF S2:BLINKING ERR: OFF The SNC FC LED continues to blink even when the fibre optic cord is removed from the SNC and the RDY LED is never on. How do I resolve this problem?

As I understand it, the SNC is basically a Fibre/SCSI Bridge... and what you are seeing is the FC light being on means that the SNC is connected to the Fibre SAN... but there drives aren't connected to the bridge. Check out http://downloads.quantum.com/scalar/S24/omUsersGuideSNC4000.pdf for information on how to connect to the SNC and run the discovery process. You'll most likely have to connect via serial connection, and the document I included does a great job of discribing that process. I'd suggest that you request an IP Address from your IT folks beforehand, so that you can configure it on your IP Network whaile you're at it.

ADIC Scalar 24 LTO2 Drive issue

We have the same problem with our ADIC Scalar 24. The only way we have been able to eject the tape is to cycle power on the tape library and after it has finished reading the tape barcodes, we can use the front panel command to unmount the tape that is in the drive. We haven't been able to find a solution to the problem and it happens at least once a week
